We invite trans, nonbinary, and other gender-expansive healthcare clinicians (including physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants, mental health clinicians, social workers, and others) to participate in a research study lead by trans and nonbinary clinicians at Brigham and Women's Hospital about your experiences in your workplace and the strategies that you use to communicate about your gender to patients and colleagues. Our goal is to better characterize the experiences of trans and nonbinary individuals in healthcare and to begin to identify best practices for communicating about clinician gender in the workplace.

Your participation is completely voluntary, and you can stop at any time. Choosing not to participate will have no bearing on your professional status or evaluations. Risks to participating in this survey include time away from work or personal life and possible emotional distress from the prompts*. The anticipated length of time to answer the questions is 10-20 minutes.

All survey data will be collected securely and anonymously such that a breach of confidentiality is minimal. Data will be stored in a secure Mass General Brigham approved database software. Your de-identified information will not be used or shared with other researchers without pre-approval from the study team. The first fifty eligible participants will be eligible to receive a $20 gift card as remuneration for completing the survey. After submitting the survey, you will have the option to provide an email address that will be used only to send you a gift card.

Please contact Alicia Smart (acsmart@partners.org) if you would like to learn more about the survey. If you would like to speak with someone not involved in this research about your rights as a research subject or any concerns or complaints regarding the study, contact Mass General Brigham IRB at 857-282-1900.

Thank you in advance for considering this request and for your anticipated participation.

By clicking the survey link you are providing your consent to participate in the above mentioned research study.

Sincerely,
